lyrics

I turned the television on, to hear those songbirds carry on.
I tuned into that drab recital, they claimed I’d find a brand new idol,

But it felt like something good was dying.

She sang a legendary song, with something desperately wrong.
There were fourteen thousand notes inside, a space where four plain notes should reside.
It felt like, it was masturbation, on the TV station.

It felt like something good was dying.

Asked about the music she was raised upon, was it Paul, George, Ringo Starr, and John?
With her mini-skirt and bashful eyes, claimed she’d never heard of those four guys.
She’d been singing, “Hey Jude, don’t make it bad”; now my whole world was sad.

If felt like something good was dying.

So I jumped into my car to drive; I flicked the radio alive.
I heard another shallow song, turned the dial that same song was on –
Every station, it felt like indoctrination, like no one’s even trying.

And it felt like, something good was dying.
